HOSPITAL BAG CHECKLIST: WHAT TO PACK FOR YOU & BABY

Share
Congratulations—you’ve made it to the third trimester! Now’s the perfect time to start thinking about your hospital bag and making sure you have everything ready to go. Personally, I like to have mine packed by 34 weeks for peace of mind. I also prefer using two separate bags—one for baby and one for me—which helps keep everything organised. And if you haven’t already, I highly recommend packing cubes to make finding things even easier!
The second time around, I packed only the essentials and actually used everything I brought—unlike my first experience, where I had way too much stuff. Below is the exact packing list I used for Amelie’s birth, refined to include only what truly matters.
Baby bag essentials:
- 6 baby grows (I love Next baby grows!)
- 3 newborn size
- 3 0-3month size
- Going home outfit (make sure to include cardigan, coat and mittens in winter)
- 2 blankets
- 2 swaddles
- 4 burp clothes
- Water wipes
- Nappies
- 2 Hats
- Formula (Even if you’re planning to breastfeed, it’s good to have a backup—most hospitals use Aptamil)
- Bottles (teat size 0)
